The US Open don't do things like other golf tournaments. They prize themselves on having the most challenging course layout,  from the impossible pin positions to the extraordinarily long roughs. This year they have also added wicker baskets to the top of the flags for some reason. Presumably so they could have a good chuckle everytime this happens to a golfer.

Recommended

If the ball lands in the basket it should count the same as the ball going in the hole. Also you should get a special prize, like a car or a large cake.
