Back in November, it was confirmed that the Mares' Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham would be renamed as the Jack de Bromhead Mares' Novices' Hurdle, in honour of legendary horse trainer Henry de Bromhead's son who passed away last September.

The race which is sponsored by Michael O'Leary's budget airline got underway today on Day 3 of the 2023 Cheltenham Festival.

It was almost a fairytale story for the de Bromhead family after a late surge from Magical Zoe, a horse trained in Henry's yard, gathered momentum in the final few furlongs, but was eventually beaten by Jamie Snowden's trained horse You Wear It Well.

It was a second win at Cheltenham for Jamie Snowden who was embraced by an emotional Henry de Bromhead after the race.

Snowden reflects on his horse's win

Speaking to Racing TV after the race, Snowden praised his mare for winning despite having a grade 2 penalty from winning the Jane Seymour Mares' Novices' Hurdle last month.

Obviously the rain has helped her, to do that with a penalty as well, she had a grade 2 penalty from winning the Jane Seymour, thankfully she's gone and done it. She's a lovely mare, she jumped great, Gavin has given her a lovely ride.

Jamie Snowden also spoke about You Wear It Well's future and what is next for her.

Well she jumps great, Chips ( Sir Chips Keswick) loves his chasing, but listen we followed the Love Envoi route so far, Honeysuckle is obviously retiring and listen she will want a trip and she will jump her fence in time, but we will enjoy today and work out tomorrow tomorrow.

With one day of racing left at Cheltenham tomorrow, there will certainly be plenty more drama and excitement like there was in the Jack de Bromhead Mares' Novices Hurdle on Day 3.
