Amateur jockey JT McNamara has regained consciousness after being put into a medically induced coma following a fall at Cheltenham. McNamara fell while aboard Galaxy Rock in the Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Challenge Cup on the Thursday of the meeting.

His uncle, Andrew McNamara, said he was "conscious and he is more or less breathing independently".
