Jockey Nina Carberry Bows Out In Style With One Last Winner

One day after Katie Walsh announced her retirement, fellow jockey Nina Carberry has called a halt to her spell in the saddle at Punchestown this afternoon.

Like Walsh before her, Carberry had the good fortune of seeing out her career on a positive note too; she won her final race on the Enda Bolger-trained Josies Orders.

As with her sister-in-law Walsh, Carberry's announcement has garenered a warm response from those wishing to celebrate her memorable career.

Carberry received a warm welcome on the back of her final winner, and sat down with Walsh to discuss her successful career:

Obviously it was a thing I was thinking about for a while, and Saturday was kind of the time I'd chosen, to ride a winner over the banks for Enda [Bolger] and J.P. [McManus], that was special.

Speaking of their joint exit, Walsh alluded to the good fortune both had had in departing in such exalted circumstances.

As she considers her departure, Carberry now reveals that it has been an experience and career that "she would never swap for anything." Like Walsh yesterday however, she is now going to concentrate on the "next chapter."
