The 2022 US PGA Championship begins this Thursday and Ladbrokes have confirmed that Shane Lowry and Jordan Spieth are the two most popularly backed golfers in the lead-up to the event.

Lowry is currently placed at 33/1 following his tremendous year so far. The Offaly native finished third in the Masters in April as well as finishing third a week later in the RBC Heritage. The world number 27 has also had three other top 15 finishes since February and many will feel that Lowry at this high price will be a worth a punt.

Jordan Spieth - who finished second at Byron Nelson over the weekend - is another player that many are backing and his odds were slashed from 20/1 to 16/1 earlier today.

“Shane Lowry has been playing consistently well and punters think he is overpriced at 33/1. The way the support is pouring in, we reckon his price will shorten in the lead up to the tournament. However, it’s not all patriotic support, with Jordan Spieth the other name punters want to be with it.”

World number 1 and Masters winner Scottie Scheffler is the favourite at 11/1, followed by Jon Rahm at 12/1. Justin Thomas and Rory McIlroy are next both sitting at 14/1.

For those looking at potential winners at higher odds, Hideki Matsuyama is at 28/1, Brooks Koepka at 33/1 and Bryson DeChambeau at 66/1.
