American Fighter Nearly Wins Irish Cliche Bingo In Interview About Conor McGregor

Veteran UFC fighter Clay Guida does not like Conor McGregor. Distaste of the Dubliner is nothing new, of course, lots of fighters in the organisation dislike him. This is doubtless due to his fast rise through the ranks, his proclivity for self-promotion and his trash talking about other fighters.

If you're going to trash talk in return though, you could at least make it original instead of throwing out stereotypes of the Irish.

In an interview with AskMen.com, the American let his opinion of McGregor be known, calling him "a flash in the pan" and an "Irish potato picker".

Conor has shown some skill and we can’t take that away from him but we haven’t seen enough from him to prove that he is legit. I don’t care how many millions of fans he has. He is a flash in the pan and you can tell him that — however, I don’t know if that Irish potato picker would know what that means, but he’s a one hit wonder.

Guida then responded to McGregor calling him "boring" in a recent interview.

If he wants to see what boring is tell him to call me. I’ve been looking forward to meeting him because I want to hear how ridiculous he really sounds. I don’t get flustered by that stuff but I can show him what boring is if he wants to get in the ring with me. He needs to fight real fighters with some pedigree before he starts talking too much.

He also said that he'd love to "steamroll" the SBG fighter in his next bout, calling him "a leprechaun looking for the treasure at the end of the rainbow".

I think you know who. I’d love to just steamroll McGregor just so people forget about his goofy ass. He’s a leprechaun looking for the treasure at the end of the rainbow and I hope he finds me on his way there. I’d only need about two weeks to train to ruin that guy's day. That’s who I would pick if I could, but I’ll take on anyone. I want to work my way up the ranks and I’ll fight whoever it takes to get up there.

Guida just required a Guinness reference to complete his Irish cliche bingo card.
