Conor McGregor Has Some Harsh Words For Joseph Duffy Ahead Of UFC Dublin

Conor McGregor was a special guest on the 300th episode of the popular UFC show The MMA Hour yesterday and the Notorious was in fine form as always.

McGregor spoke on a broad range of topics from his bumper new contract to Croke Park and that now famous Go Big UFC press conference.

One topic that really grabbed his attention was that of Joseph Duffy. Some might say the Donegal born fighter has rode the coat-tails of McGregor into the UFC. As we all know by now, Duffy is well known for being the last man to defeat the interim featherweight champ and it would be fair to say that his suitability to headline the UFC's Dublin card on October 24 has quite a bit to do with that.

However, that's not to say that McGregor is happy to see Duffy cashing in on that Cage Warriors victory back in 2010.

How can he say anything about that fight when one year after he quit the sport? He was beaten for the Cage Warriors title and he quit the sport, moved country, changed teams and took up another sport. Then he see's my success, he see's the Irish success and he shaves a shamrock in his head, he starts calling himself "Irish Joe" and tries to capitalise on it and milk it.

He didn't stop there and proceeded to question Duffy's authenticity.

Joe is not from Dublin, he's currently in Canada, he's from London or Wales..... I don't know where the fuck he's from. He ain't from here, he ain't stepped foot in that arena or he ain't ever trained around these parts.

Away from Duffy, McGregor also spoke about his proposed new contract which he anticipates being in and around the nine figure mark, or $100,000,000 to make it sound even more ridiculous.

Let's compare contracts. Because the contract that I'm talking now is nine figures, nine figures I'm talking. Nobody in the game has talked nine figures. That's $100 million plus. That's my contract, so, that's where I'm at and I've done it the way I've done it.

He also spoke about his desire to defend his unified belt in Croke Park but is busy concentrating on his upcoming fight to get carried away with the idea. Asked whether it was 100% that his next fight would be in Croker he replied;

I haven't really spoke about what's next because were still in the what's now. Croke Park will definitely happen I have no doubt about it. I'm in no worries about it, I'll keep winning. I'll see what state the featherweight division is in after that weekend, I imagine it will be up in flames and I'll move up to 155lbs.

McGregor will be in attendance at the 3Arena on the 24th of October before he goes into lock down ahead of his unification bout with Jose Aldo on December 12, which is set to obliterate UFC records.
