With Dana White this week stating that Jon Jones can expect a shot at the title as soon as he serves his suspension and is ready to return to the UFC, many fighters have given their view on the news that has dominated MMA news sites for the past month.
While in Las Vegas preparing for his upcoming title fight with Jose Aldo, Conor McGregor was asked his opinion on events, and as someone who has spent time with Jones in the past, McGregor expressed his disbelief at the situation that Jones has found himself in.
I can't understand it. Like, get a driver. Get driven. If I go out now, I'm driven in a limo. You know what I mean? You've got money. I don't know. It's just a weird situation. But I wish him well. I hope he gets his head together and comes back. He's a great man, he's a great champion.
I've met Jon many times and I love Jon. He's a great man. He's a great fighter. But his decisions and his choices, I don't understand how. You've got millions in the bank. How can you be in a little desert town in Albuquerque and be in a little rental Buick?
It certainly is a good point. With all that Reebok money could he not have used Uber for a lift home?
McGregor was then asked about his own night out in Las Vegas recently and how it effected his team, to which he responded by suggesting that a sensible night out early in the training camp can do everyone involved some good:
We had a good night, head home and now it's done. Now that temptation is killed nice and early. If you let it build and build and build, then people start getting agitated and want to go out and do other stuff. And it leads into something bad. We killed it and now we are focusing in.
We certainly hope he is focused in for the big fight on July 11th.
