It took CM Punk nearly two years to get inside the cage after signing with the UFC. And two short minutes later, it was all over.

Punk, whose real name is Phil Brooks, was manhandled and summarily submitted by Mickey Gall in a one-sided fight at last night's UFC 203 in Cleveland but, as obvious as his skill deficiency is, he seems to have earned the respect of many figures within the UFC locker room.

This includes Conor McGregor.

The Irishman was cornered by TMZ last night and the UFC's featherweight champion made it clear that he thinks very highly of the former professional wrestler.

I'll tell you what, fair play to him because he got in there and fought. And not a lot of people do. Not a lot of people have the balls to make that walk, so fair play to him.

He got his ass whooped. God bless, he got his ass whooped! Those WWE guys are straight pussies, I told you! But he isn't, he got in and fought. Fair play to him. Respect.

McGregor has made no secret of his disdain for the WWE, roasting the vast majority of the sports entertainment brand whenever given the opportunity. He does say that certain figures within professional wrestling are exempt from his jibes: The McMahons, The Rock, Triple H and The Undertaker among them.

It seems that, even after defeat last night, CM Punk has joined that list.
