At the press conference to officially kick off promotion for UFC 197, tensions were obvious between Conor McGregor and his next big opponent. We're not talking McGregor vs RDA however. We're talking about McGregor vs the UFC.

Last week, reports surfaced from America that Conor McGregor was considering his options beyond the UFC. This is probably just the posturing of a superstar at the top of his sport, but Dana White was very vocal in criticising the reports, calling out the journalist for being a 'weirdo'.

Yesterday in Vegas, McGregor was McGregor, referencing Jesus and El Chapo, but he did not direct his scorn solely in the direction of Rafael dos Anjos. According to reports from CBS TV in Las Vegas, after the press conference yesterday, McGregor was very critical of the UFC's marketing department because the UFC 197 posters do not feature McGregor's featherweight belt, nor did they feature McGregor prominently enough.

"This is a super fight. I look upon that poster, I see myself tucked in the back there," McGregor said. “He fought on free TV. He’s never brought a dime to the company, he’s never made a dime yet there he is sitting on the front of my poster.”

He also had a few questions for the UFC marketing department:

"Where is my damn belt? Where are all these historic images? These are posters that will be looked back on long after it’s all said and done and you’ve got to look back on that absolute garbage. So you know, I think I might have to go into that department because they must be getting comfortable in that poster department. They wanna get their act together and start doing their damn job.”

McGregor being McGregor, he chose not to let the incident pass without making a threat:

“I feel someone is sleeping on that job in that department and I will have to dip my nose and find out who and eliminate them.”
