Dana White and José Aldo's continue to go back and forth after the latter's angry statement, following confirmation Conor McGregor will throw down with Eddie Alvarez and not Aldo at UFC 205.
Aldo said last night:
After all this, I see I can’t trust any word from president Dana White, and who’s in charge of the promotion now is Conor McGregor. Since I’m not here to be an employee of McGregor, today I ask to cancel my contract with the UFC. When they offered me a fight with Frankie Edgar, Dana said that the winner would challenge McGregor or win the linear title, that he would lose his belt if he didn’t return to the featherweight division after his rematch with Nate Diaz. After being fooled so many times, I don’t feel motivated to fight in the UFC anymore.

Speaking - as he often tends to - with Brazilian publication Globo (who own shares in the UFC), White gave his own reaction to Aldo's barbed request:
We will not cancel his contract. We know that he was very emotional. We very much respect José Aldo, we like [the people] who are around him. Khabib wanted a fight on this card and we got a fight for him this card. Let's get something cool for José as well.
The UFC president also elaborated on McGregor's belt situation, telling Globo that McGregor "cannot have two belts", and will have to decide which once he keeps should he defeat Alvarez in New York on November 12th.
We're not sure that's much good to José Aldo, but obviously the chance for the organisation's leading fighter to make history, and the extra numbers that will bring to the pay-per-view, currently outweighs previous promises.
