The main event at UFC Phoenix on Sunday night - a heavyweight bout between Cain Velasquez and Francis Ngannou - lasted just 26 seconds.

The victory was given to Ngannou as a knockout but it appeared to have more to do with Velasquez's knee giving way than any blows landed by his opponent.

It was Velasquez's return to the octagon after two-and-a-half years away. His previous fight had been a win against Travis Browne at UFC 200.

Speaking after the fight, Velasquez said his knee had "buckled".

"It was just the knee, yeah. He didn’t even like touch me," the 36-year-old said during the post-fight press conference.

It was like the knee just buckled. I can't believe that happened.

It was okay, the referee saw my knee buckle. His job is to make sure we're 100 per cent safe and he did that. The ref did the correct job tonight.

Now 13-3, the victory is the biggest of Ngannou's career.
