The highly anticipated stare-down between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz ahead of their headline fight at UFC 196 was going as intensely as expected, until the Irishman took a swing at his opponent's outstretched fist, which sparked a rush of the stage by the entourage of both parties and security men.

The Dubliner is being accused of 'slapping' Diaz's hand down after the American had his fist in McGregor's face, but as you can see from the slow-motion below - it's very much a full fist that McGregor uses to smash Diaz' wrist away.

McGregor wasn't happy about how what he viewed what Diaz unwilling to look him in the eyes so he " quickly snatched it and broke his wrist". After things settled down, Diaz was seen touching his right hand, the one that had been struck by McGregor, and many wondered if Conor's closed fist had actually inflicted an injury.

The idea was quickly debunked by Diaz's team.

In a satellite interview conducted after the press conference by both fighters in separate rooms, Diaz was asked if his hand was hurt, and it was dealt with in typical style from both men.

This fight is going to be incredible.
