John Kavanagh Reveals Devastation That Fighter Was Rushed To Beaumont Hospital Last Night

Portuguese MMA fighter Joao Carvalho was rushed to hospital after his third round loss to Charlie Ward in a Total Extreme Fighting welterweight contest in Dublin last night.

After suffering a technical knockout in the third round, he was given the standard check up by the medical staff at the venue. However, twenty minutes after this, he fell ill and was taken to Beaumont hospital.

Absolutely devastated for the family of young fighter Joao Carvalho who is in a bad condition following a closely contested fight with one of my fighters last night.

Although over the last twenty years or more there have been hundreds of thousands of contests worldwide in 1000s of shows and this outcome is incredibly rare it's not much consolation for friends and family of Mr. Carvalho who must beside themselves with worry and deserve to have their privacy respected.

At this point, my only concerns are for the young man and hope that the medical attention he's receiving can help him through this.

In an interview with MMA Connect TV last night, McGregor suggested that he thought the referee could have stopped the fight a bit earlier.
