Jon Jones Outlines How Conor McGregor Has Come Away From UFC 196 As A Winner

Mighty Mouse aside, Jon Jones can be fairly confident that no one is going to be questioning his status as the pound-for-pound champion, at least in relation to Conor McGregor. On Friday night, the talk was about the Dubliner coming for Jones' entirely non-existent and quite frankly pointless 'title'.

On Sunday morning, the talk was of a kingdom blown to smithereens by the brick wall that is Nate Diaz. He may still be the featherweight king but any claim to being the UFC's best has been put to one side, perhaps indefinitely.

In front of a fairly boisterous Irish crowd on Friday, Jones delivered an impressively diplomatic response to suggestions that McGregor was close to rising to the top of the P4P ranking. Following the Dubliner's defeat at UFC 196, Jones has very much stayed clear of the growing tide of people jumping up and down on whatever remains of McGregor's hype train.

Instead, he has taken to Instagram to deliver a message to the Dubliner, and anyone who's taking great delight in his defeat.

He really handled it like a champion. He took a gamble, fighting anyone anywhere. A gamble he lost but in a way he won, because he really got to show some great character.
