UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo Junior has been speaking to the media from his training camp in Brazil ahead of his title defence against Conor McGregor in what has easily been the most hyped fight in recent UFC history.
The unprecedented UFC 189 World Tour allowed us all a chance to get to see what Jose Aldo is like behind the scenes, and one thing we know for sure is that the Brazilian is not a fan of Conor McGregor's mouth.
Aldo admitted that he considered accepting a fine and starting a brawl with McGregor on the tour, due to the Irishman's actions, but the cost of the fine put him off:
We talked about a possible fine during the tour, but it is too expensive, and I couldn’t afford getting fined. That was an issue because I couldn’t do what I wanted to do. But the fight is around the corner now so we can do something more because nobody will do anything about it. It there’s any trash talk, I know what I’m going to do.
When pressed on this statement, Aldo gave a rather mysterious response:
I already have in my mind what I’m going to do, but it’s a secret. It’s going to be a different Aldo. There’s no fine or suspension anymore. After everything they spent, they won’t cancel this fight for anything. I’m sure he will come after me, but I guarantee it’s going to be different this time.
So Jose has a secret plan for when Conor McGregor gets in his face?
Sorry Jose, not trying to blow your cover or anything, but your secret plan sounds a lot like hitting Conor. That would be a pretty disappointing secret.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see. These two really don't like each other, and as each week passes you can feel the tension building around what will no doubt be a spectacular fight.
