Lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and Nate Diaz had to be pulled apart during UFC 239 in what was just the latest in a series of clashes between the pair.

The rivalry goes back to 2015 when an altercation got physical at the World Series of Fighting event. The most recent instalment was much tamer than that as Diaz appeared to engage the Russian before being pulled away by scrambling security.

UFC president Dana White spoke briefly about it after the night's proceedings: "They started to get into a fight and we broke it up."

Diaz did recently declare himself finished with the lightweight division after already dealing with Khabib outside of the Octagon.

Khabib, I already slapped him in his face.
