Famed boxing MC Michael Buffer has politely denied suggestions that he might team up with his half-brother, UFC intros man Bruce, for Floyd Mayweather's fight with Conor McGregor on August 26th.

The 72-year-old boxing icon, whose 'Let's Get Ready To Rumble' catchphrase has earned him over $400m since he acquired the trademark in 1992, confirmed on Twitter that he won't be splitting ceremonial duties with Bruce Buffer at the T-Mobile Arena due to other duties on the night.

Buffer will instead be presiding over intros for Miguel Cotto's comeback fight versus Yoshihiro Kamegai at StubHub Centre, Carson, California - a fight which will be broadcast on the same night on HBO, to whom Buffer is contracted.

Even if Buffer wasn't already booked on that night, it would have been unlikely that he would be involved in the Mayweather-McGregor buildup; the fight takes place on rival network Showtime, where Buffer's fellow icon and close friend Jimmy Lennon Jr invariably MCs large boxing events.

The likelihood is that if there is to be a collaboration, it will be Lennon Jr and Bruce Buffer on call at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Incidentally, it was Michael Buffer's fame which saw him reunited with long-lost family members, including his half-brother Bruce.

In 1989, he was approached by his birth father who had seen him on television, and was subsequently introduced to Bruce and other family members.

The Buffer brothers remain extremely close, and in the mid-90s, Michael appointed Bruce as his agent-slash-manager, prior to the latter's UFC days.

Both Michael and Bruce are grandsons of former World bantamweight champion boxer Johnny Buff (1888-1955), whose real name was Johnny Linksy. He adapted the name 'Buff' due to friends in his neighbourhood referring to him as 'Buffalo'.
