Nate Diaz's Coach Elaborates On Conor McGregor Steroid Accusations Ahead Of UFC 196

The official press conference for UFC 196 held last week did not disappoint.

We wanted a heated discussion between two of MMA's best smack-talkers, and that is exactly what we got as each fighter told everyone watching exactly how they thought the fight would go.

While McGregor gave us a good laugh with his balloon animal joke, he was visibly pissed off by Nate Diaz's accusation that he is using steroids. When McGregor asked Diaz if he knew that his own teammates were "juicing" before they were suspended, we heard no more on the subject which lead us to assume that Diaz didn't really believe the comments himself, but now his coach has reaffirmed the accusation on Submission Radio, but again, it sounds like bullshit.

Oh I sure do believe that.

And to be honest with you, I know McGregor's gotta be on some kind of steroids, he's pretty big and then all of a sudden jumping to 170? Yeah, there's no way. He was supposed to be fighting at 155, if you think about it, he was focusing on training at 155, he only had two weeks two, and now he's gonna jump to 170?

Nah, there's something going on.

That is baffling.

Did he not consider that he will sacrifice a weight advantage, which is exactly what he said he would be doing he claimed he told Dana to let Diaz get comfortable?

The host of the show asked the question of whether McGregor being bigger was simply down to him not having to cut to 145 anymore, and fighting at a more natural weight, but again the reply didn't quite add up.

All I know is he was supposed to fight at 155, and I don't think he made the weight. Think about it if you see that you would, he's got two weeks to go, he'd be close to 155, but he jumped to 170. That's shady right there.

Not quite as shady as that answer.

It seems like the steroid accusation was merely to get into Conor's head and upset him, and perhaps it worked, but it's a serious accusation to throw around.

Conor appears to be one of the most tested fighters in the UFC, and he makes that very public, so it's going to take a lot more than "He looks bigger" to convince people that the Dubliner is on the juice.
