"He's No Dummy" - Paulie Malignaggi Weighs In After Sparring With Conor McGregor

Now that the press conference world tour is over and done with, Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather can put all of their focus into getting themselves in the best position to win the actual fight on August 26th.

While are still heavily favouring Mayweather to do what he did to every boxer put in front of him during his 49 professional fights, the acquisition of recently retired Paulie Malignaggi to the team can be seen as nothing other than a smart move by the McGregor camp.

Malignaggi was Showtime's voice of reason alongside Brendan Schaub who was drafted in to give an opinion from someone who has full faith in McGregor to get the win, and will work the fight as a boxing analyst when the day does arrive, but until then he will be doing his best to get McGregor to where he needs to be.

Speaking to Michael Woods of NYFights.com, Malignaggi gave a positive review of his first day working with the Dubliner.

Eight rounds, good work. I can’t disclose too much but McGregor is no dummy... There’s a method to his madness.

He has an idea of what he wants to do and how he wants to do it, he’s not clueless.

He’s not your conventional boxer by any means but he’s capable and his power is good. Whether that can be effective is up to him, but he’s no dummy!

There's not too much that can be read into what has been said, but those comments highlight what we've been hearing from the likes of John Kavanagh and McGregor himself in the build up over the past few weeks.

He is not going to stand in front of Floyd and box conventionally. He's clearly got a few surprises up his sleeve, and that's why someone with the boxing brain and experience of Malignaggi will be a huge help. It may not be enough, but it's a very smart move.

They say I've got no hands.

Paulie will have a better idea than anyone as to what will happen on August 26th after he gets an inside view as to what Conor is going to bring, so his pre-fight analysis will be interesting for sure.
