Ahead of the new season of The Ultimate Fighter, Conor McGregor has been reflecting on his fight with Chad Mendes and in particular, the role Sinead O'Connor played in singing his entrance music.

The Notorious actually revealed that it was his idea and he broached it immediately after UFC Dublin.

That has never happened before in the history of the sport. We have never had people sing people to the Octagon but after UFC Dublin I went backstage to Dana and I said 'This is the way to do it. Things need to be different here.'

Speaking like any great booker, McGregor added:

The show must be a spectacle. We cannot do the same things we've done time and time again and expect the same results. You do the same thing you get the same results.

In case you were worrying, McGregor's self-belief certainly doesn't seem to have wavered. with him concluding his analysis of the event with the line 'The whole event, the McGregor show, it went exactly as planned.
