When Joe Rogan announced that Jon Jones would be the guest on his podcast this week, the MMA world were hoping that one of the most talented men ever to step in an octagon would be pressed with some difficult questions.

And sure enough, Rogan wasted no time in getting down to business and soon Jones was explaining his actions in the moments after the hit and run incident that looked at the time that it could cost Jones his career.

Jones gave his account of events, dispelling a few myths that he ran away when he realised that it was a pregnant women he had hit, and that he didn't return to the car to grab cash, but instead to grab his "bowl", a pipe used as drug paraphernalia that he insists he was not using at the time.

Jones also revealed that when he found out that he had hit a pregnant woman, he thought he his career was done and he felt like a monster.

That was interesting.

While he's giving his take on what happened from his own perspective, he's not looking for sympathy, which is just as well as his actions and decision-making does not warrant any, but now we know what was going through his mind when he took the decision to drive that afternoon.

It serves as a reminder that the morning after a drinking session you are still greatly impaired on the roads, so hopefully someone watching will think of Jones' words if they are left in a similar position in terms of whether or not they should drive.

The Joe Rogan podcast remains one of the very best around, and you can watch the episode with Jon Jones in full below.
