Rugby has come in for a fair bit of criticism in recent week, with a lot of controversy in the aftermath of the crunching Courtney Lawes tackle on Jules Plisson in the Six Nations finale.

Now, an American website has taken quite an over-reaction to a big rugby league hit. The hit in question was an unfrotunate collision in which West Tiger's centre Chance Peni broke his jaw. It's a bad tackle, and was blown up. Most of the damage in the tackle was done as Peni's chin hit the onrushing Matthew Allwood of the New Zealand Warriors in the wrong place.

Peni wound up having surgery to repair the double fracture in his jaw, and will be able to return to play in six weeks. Warriors ended up winning the game 28-16.

The headline the tackle got on USAToday, read "Here's Another Reason No One Should Play Rugby". That seems like a big overreaction. From a country that has a very similar game in NFL that features some tackles and injuries that would make rugby players feel queasy.
