One of the major questions regarding Conor McGregor's rise in the UFC is that he has never fought one of the top wrestlers in the featherweight division, namely Chad Mendes and Frankie Edgar. The former headlined the UFC Fight Night 63 card in Fairfax, Virginia on Saturday as he took on Ricardo Lamas.
It was a hugely impressive performance from Mendes, taking just 2:45 to defeat the number four ranked Lamas. The victor seriously hurt his opponent with one of his first landed punches. Lamas never recovered. It was actually a surprise that referee Dan Miragliotta did not stop the fight sooner.
