A Clarification

Yesterday, we published a story "Exposed: NFL Croker Story Is A Sham*". Our aim was to explain our doubts over the likelihood over an NFL game in Ireland this autumn, as well as chart the evolution of how the story was reported. Croker stadium director Padraig McKenna more or less acknowledged in the Irish Times today that staging the game in Dublin in the autumn will be very difficult.

“There was speculation that the game could take place this autumn, but that’s a bit ambitious as things stand. It’s very much a concept at the moment and there’s a lot of work to be done on the idea."

It was not my aim to question the veracity of any of the reporting from the Irish expat papers in New York who broke this story and I'd like to clarify that the pointed headline referred to the story in the Irish media that the game might be held in the autumn, not any of the stories quoted in the Irish Voice or the Irish Echo.
