EDIT:

John McDermott was the winner of today's quiz. A Balls.ie mug will be winging it's way to him as soon as we've recovered from St. Patrick's weekend. Probably sometime in April.

Every Friday follows the same pattern. You can touch the weekend with your fingertips but it is just out of reach. It is still a couple of hours until games start being played and you can't ring up your friends to talk sports because you are stuck at your desk until five. But never fear, Balls.ie has produced a sporting antidote that you can inject directly into your arm. Welcome to "A Question Of Know Your Sport", the Balls.ie patented fridaily trivia quiz.

Every friday we will retreat to the Balls.ie lab to concoct three fiendish brain teasers for you to solve at lunchtime. Bragging rights aren't the only thing at stake here, you could also come away with a unique handcrafted Irish made Balls.ie mug. After pushing the buttons and pulling the levers on our trivia machine here are the inaurgural questions for "A Question Of Know Your Sport".

Ricardo Carvalho, Paolo Ferreira, Deco, Diego Forlan, Michael Owen, Dennis Bergkamp, Jens Lehmann, Yuri Zhirkov, Jose Antonio Reyes, Nwankwo Kanu, David Platt.

- We initially thought there were just 10 players that had won the Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Cup/Europa League but discovered during the course of the quiz that David Platt had also received a winner's medal despite not appearing in the match day squad for Juventus' UEFA Cup win in 1993.

If you have the guts, email your answers to [email protected]. Include as many proposterous answers as you can, while we are not awarding mugs based on a Stephen Fry QI system, we will feature the best submissions. The winner will be picked at random at 5pm this evening and will come away with one of these beauties. The mugs have been tested by the Balls.ie team and we can verify that they can hold a mug of milk, a mug of vodka, a mug of finches orange and a mug of all three at the same time. They really are sex for the eyes, aren't they?
