I admit it I didn't think Alex Smith could do it.I think it is a safe bet to say I was not alone in that thought process.Hell, if the sideline reporter some how manged to inject his coach, Jim Harbaugh and teammates with truth serum during those last few ticks of the clock I am confident they would have been sharing those same doubts . But he proved us wrong not once, but twice.
However,we should not have been that surprised. Smith had previously shown he could march the 49ers down the field against the Saints in the last few minutes of a game. He did so two years ago on Monday night football.
