Arsenal Win Community Shield In A New Shootout Format

Arsenal have won the Community Shield after beating Chelsea 4-1 in an ABBA penalty shootout at Wembley.

The game finished 1-1 after 90 minutes, with Victor Moses scoring to give Chelsea the lead early in the second half. Debutant Sead Kolasinac equalised for Arsenal in the final ten minutes to send the game to penalties.

For the first time on English soil, an ABBA penalty shootout took place on English soil with Arsene Wenger's comfortably winning 4-1.

Chelsea missed their second and third penalties, with goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois' penalty flying over the bar, and Alvaro Morata's penalty going wide.

Olivier Giroud scored the winning penalty to help Arsenal to their second win over Chelsea in Wembley in the past ten weeks.

Arsenal begin their Premier League campaign on Friday night at home to Leicester City, while Chelsea begin their Premier League defence on Saturday against Burnley.
