The Brooklyn Nets coach Jason Kidd will be in hot water following his tactics court side after he ordered a player to deliberately hit him.

With just 8.3 seconds left on the clock and no timeouts left to run a play Kidd came up an ingenious idea. The LA Lakers were at the free throw line so the Nets coach asked Tyshawn Taylor to hit him as he left the court to make him spill his drink so he could get a defacto timeout.

"The cup slipped out of my hand,” Kidd said. “I was getting tired. Sweaty palms. In the heat of the battle you’re trying to get guys in and out of the game, and the coke fell out of my hand."

With the court unsafe to play, the mess needed to be wiped up and this gave time for Kidd to rally his troops and get his final play across.

His great idea almost paid off but Nets' Paul Pierce was unable to hold his shot and the Lakers were able to hang on for the win.

Kidd is sure to get a slap on the wrist and a substantial fine for his antics.
