Broken bats are a common-enough impediment in a baseball game. Usually the head of the bat will bounce perilously towards the ankles of the opposing team. I have never in my life seen a broken bat shoot like a dart into a player's chest. But it's happened. Around the .37 mark, you can really see the impact.
