This would be a sight to see.

Former Celtic manager Gordon Strachan has been headhunted for a role within the club, first reported by the Daily Record.

The 64-year-old is set to make an emphatic return to Parkhead as early as next week if negotiations go well.

Strachan is being groomed for what is described as a 'godfather' type role, managing the club's strategic side of things.

He'll also play a vital role in overseeing Celtic's development in their youth teams.

The Scotsman was last in the managing hot seat in 2009. Since then, he's held a close relationship with majority shareholder Dermot Desmond.

Desmond reportedly still relies on Strachan for advise and input, so it would seem the role will see that relationship go more in the public eye.

What's Strachan up to now? He was sacked as Scottish manager in 2017 and has been involved with Dundee since his international tenure.

At Dundee, he holds a technical director role, which isn't too dissimilar to what's on the cards at Parkhead.

Gordon's son Gavin is also involved in management. He's been involved in Ange Postecoglou’s backroom team since he took charge a few months back.

The Daily record say Strachan won't be butting into Postecoglou's first team management, and rather will oversee the club's overall player development.

The move has reportedly been in the works for several months, but has been delayed as Celtic prioritised first team signings.

A statement on the move is expected soon. Further reports suggest Dundee expect Strachan to remain in his managing director role.
