Like George Bush, he has looked into Vladimir Putin's soul and likes what he sees.

Conor McGregor has no time for the mediocrities who populate the political scene in this part of the globe.

'Who's Nicola Sturgeon?' was a question he put to Alastair Campbell in a recent GQ interview.

Campbell, the actual interrogator, was a trifle stunned by McGregor's ignorance of the political scene. In the circles in which he travels, it is not common for someone not to know the identity of the Scottish First Minister.

This started a new round of guess the very famous politician.

After initially guessing Tony Blair, McGregor did find his way to the identity of the current UK prime minister. True patriot that he is, he got to Enda Kenny in an instant.

Unsurprisingly, he prefers preening strongmen. Thus, Putin is more his style. McGregor was appearing on a feature on Russian TV station, Match TV.

The feature rambled across the usual terrain but did boast one especially interesting titbit.

As is seemingly obligatory on Russian TV, there were a few words of praise for the President.

Putin is a cool man, a martial artist also. Takes no shit. Russian people are strong people. They can spot a bullshitter from a mile away.
