Deja Vu: Peter Stringer Claims Fillol Spat On Him In 1999 As Well

This is pretty bizarre. In an interview with the Times of London today, Peter Stringer reminisced about the only other time he was spat upon in his rugby career. The shenanigans with Jerome Fillol over the weekend jogged him memory of an Ireland U-21 match against France, so Stringer had has father check the match programme from the day. The starting France scrum half that day and the spitter in question? None other than Jerome Fillol, claims the 2013-2014 Bath scrumhalf.

And it has emerged that Stringer, who signed a new one-year contract with the club on Tuesday, had been spat on before by the same player in an Ireland Under-21 international against France in 1999.

Stringer said after Bath’s 36-20 defeat that he had only once before been subjected to similar treatment but could not remember the player involved, other than he was a scrum half.

Over the weekend Stringer's father checked a programme from the Under-21 international and discovered that Fillol was also the culprit 14 years ago
