1988. Seoul. Women's 4 X 400 finals. USA v USSR. Flo Jo - who held the 100m world record and broke the 200m world record at those Olympics and let's face it, was almost certainly doping - vs Ukranian Olha Bryzgina, who'd already won the 400m. Essentially the two fastest women in the world going at it. They're even when they get the stick and have a pretty incredible, if slightly anticlimatic head-to-head. It's funny to listen to the commentary of the gung-ho Americans and their certainty that FloJo will do the job. Bryzgina, to her credit, ran an incredible 47.7 split, and her team shattered the world record in the 4X400 with a time that still stands today.
