Balls.ie is delighted to announce its latest hire, gambling and religious affairs correspondent Wild Ben Nedditt.

Nedditt has lived a colourful life. Born in deepest, darkest Yorkshire some time in the mid-1970s to new age hippies, Nedditt was abandoned by his parents at a summertime race meeting in Ballinrobe in 1987. He was promptly adopted by an illiterate Breaffy poitin maker and horse whisperer. Wild Ben taught himself to read via the Racing Post and completed his junior cert with a Dec's Betting pen.

Nedditt has not worked a day's labour in his life. He lives on the spoils of his gambling prowess, primarily a €10,000 bet made 80 minutes into Liverpool-Olympiacos for Liverpool to win the 2005 Champions League. Nedditt is known around the dog tracks of England as an expert tipster and a man to fear in an armwrestling contest (hence the name 'Ned').

He is also a deeply religious man and has offered to post the occasional religious post for Balls. His thoughts on the successor to the Pope, and indeed, the entire concept of papal infallibility are arresting, and if Ned does not end up face down in some hippy halting site next weekend beside an empty bottle of Teacher's, he'll be in Rome for the Papal Conclave. (You should hear Wild Ben's answers into enquiries into how a committed gambler can call himself a pious and religious)

This afternoon, Nedditt will depart from his abode somewhere in Roscommon aboard his motorcycle for a ferry that will take him to Holyhead, and then later Cheltenham. He will be sending his tips all next week as well his daily diary from the track.

We are delighted to have Wild Ben Neddet writing for Balls.ie.
