Heavy rain last night caused serious flooding at Letterkenny hospital which resulted in the temporary closure of its emergency department. After a few hours of cleaning up by the fire brigade, the department was re-opened. However, an investigation into the cause of the flood has begun as this is the second time the hospital has experienced severe flooding in twelve months.


This photo was taken at the hospital and posted on Twitter today. The user who uploaded the image made sure to emphasize that this doesn't lessen the seriousness of the situation. It is what it is.
