During a UEFA video conference meeting on Wednesday, it was decided that no international football will take place until further notice.

"All national team matches for men and women due to be played in June 2020 are postponed until further notice," UEFA said in a statement.

"This includes the play-off matches for UEFA EURO 2020 and qualifying matches for UEFA Women’s EURO 2021."

That means Ireland's Euro 2020 playoff against Slovakia, which had already been rescheduled from March 26th to early June, has again been postponed.

It also throws up a curious situation regarding Ireland's senior team management.

Mick McCarthy began Ireland's qualifying campaign for the Euros as manager and had been expected to see it out with Stephen Kenny taking over afterwards.

However, McCarthy's contract is set to run out on July 31st with Kenny's senior manager term beginning on August 1st.

All other UEFA competitions, including the Champions League and Europa League, have also been postponed until further notice.
