As a small island nation we are at a huge disadvantage when it comes to dominating sport at a global level. Sometimes we shoot ourselves in the foot when it comes to having the appropriate academies to spot and train the next big star. Case in point is what happened when a distinguished old Londoner with a neat ponytail came to Parnell street waving a cane and some cash and got sent on his merry old way back to where the streets, the streets are paved with gold.

Peter Stringfellow would have brought ireland's pole dancing women to the world stage, and maybe just maybe we could go and compete against these ladies
