The Golden State Warriors got serious revenge for last year's NBA Finals defeat to LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers with a dominant 4-1 series win this week, wrapping up their second title in three years.

Despite the incredible talent of the core Warriors - Curry, Thompson and Green, and not to mention the addition of former MVP and recently named Finals MVP Kevin Durant, the real reason the incredible run that brought the Warriors to the most dominant playoff performances in history wasn't been anything to do with their intense skill and training, but instread down to Klay Thompson and his ability to induce good fortune by signing a fan's toaster.

Mayo fans should probably take note of the events surrounding the Oakland team's success and after reading this they might want to keep a toaster handy on them in case they bump into Aidan O'Shea anytime soon.

As the story goes, last March a fan attended a meet and greet with Klay Thompson and asked him to sign his Golden State branded toaster. The utter confusion on Thompson's face provided a photo that became a symbol of the Warriors' season.

It's pretty clear that Thompson isn't too sure what to make of the moment, or what way to go about signing a black toaster - but he did so nonetheless and got on with his day.

Since that moment the team went on its incredible 31-2 streak and thus the internet was quick to point out the significance of the toaster which is now of the most valuable pieces of sports memorabilia going.

Before the team's game 4 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, Thompson even vowed to buy everyone on the team their very own bread burning apparatus if they won, but sadly it wasn't to be and Golden State had to wait until game 5 to pick up the NBA Finals Trophy.

With the title celebrations in full swing this week, Thompson didn't forget about the fan and his toaster and extended him an invite that was sure to make his day.

Ronnie Reyes is the name of the man who brought the sacred artefact to Klay's hands that day, and he's been more than proud to show off his treasure on Twitter, we have a feeling he won't be looking to sell anytime soon.

And it's not just Ronnie who has an unconditional love for his toaster, some fans are even calling for this design to become the team' new logo.

Golden State had their victory parade yesterday and there was the toaster and its owner.

Yeah, sport is weird.
