Ok, let's back up a second. The Houston Texans and Detroit Lions are playing in the first of the Thanksgiving games. Texans running back Justin Forsett took the ball on his own nineteen yard line and was brought down after eight yards. Here's where the chaos ensued. No whistle went despite Forsett's knee and elbow clearly touching the turf.

He promptly scampered away and into the end zone for the TD. No problem, all touchdowns are reviewable. But the Detroit head coach Jim Schwartz threw a challenge flag on the play. You cannot challenge a play that's automatically reviewable so not only did the non touchdown stand, Detroit were charged fifteen yards. The Detroit defensive co-ordinator Cunther Cunningham let the binder have it.
