On September 3, the 2012 NFL season kicks off. It's sure to be epic, controversial and stupidly, stupidly fun. There are so many reasons to hate American football, but in my own eyes, it delivers entertainment levels superior to any other sports league on planet Earth. The NFL experience is then enhanced by one of the absorbing and functional Fantasy leagues in sport.
This August, Balls.ie will be launching its first-ever NFL fantasy league. We're hoping to create a mega 16-team league and split it up between Balls.ie staffers and readers. We received so much feedback after PJ mentioned the fantasy league in his post on why the NFL is brilliant that we've decided to create a 16-team league. If you've never played 16 teams in fantasy, it's a pretty serious experience. As Bleacher Report write in their post on 16-team leagues, if you draft first, you don't get another player until the 32nd pick. Long story short, to thrive in this league, you've got to be good. By the end of the season, we'll hope to have a clear idea who the best fantasy NFL mind in Ireland is.
There's really no fair way to accept participants in the league, and to separate the wheat from the chaff so to speak, if you're interested in joining, email [email protected] and include a youtube video with your favourite-ever NFL play and a line or two with why you chose it. We have about 10 slots and we'll take the most-inspired emailers into the league. If you don't get it, don't despair. This league features relegation so they'll be spots open again next season. Also there may a nominal cash entry fee so if don't enter if you don't want to pay.
