Portuguese MMA fighter Joao Carvalho died in Beaumont hospital on Monday night.
Carvalho was taken to Beaumont for emergency surgery following the Total Extreme Fighting 1 event at the National Stadium in Dublin on Saturday night.
According to the Facebook page of Carvalho's gym - Team Nobrega - he passed away at 9:35pm last night.

On Saturday night, Carvalho lost by TKO in the third round of his fight against Charlie Ward.
Initially, Carvalho appeared OK after the fight. However, 20 minutes later, he began to feel ill and was rushed to hospital.
The Irish Daily Star subsequently reported that he was in critical condition following his surgery.
RIP Joao Carvalho.
