Roy and Andy, Andy and Roy.. midfield dynamos, the two of them, one slightly better than the other.

We know Roy is definitely taking part in the analysis today but will he have to interact with Andy, is the most interesting of scenarios. Going back on their relationship history, it would appear that they have hardly been practicing their football cliches in a shared hotel room.

You can probably guess what happened. Smash - right across the shins. Take that!

Roy Keane often kept to himself during his international career with Ireland

I looked around to see Forest's Roy Keane, my Republic of Ireland midfield partner, turning away indifferently.

No surprises. I didn't complain then. I'm not complaining now. It's what I would have expected.

I played alongside him for six years as his captain and can't say I ever really got to know Roy.

I had a professional, working relationship with him, nothing more. He wasn' t bothered about making any more of it, neither was I.

He would join us for our famous Irish 'bonding' sessions in the pub, would have a drink like the rest of us (I'm told he doesn't touch a drop now), but he might mix with you one time and be distant the next.

I was happy with that, no problem. I left him to it.

We would pull on our green shirts, exchange a few words about the game, play and that was it. Until the next game.

I didn't get a phone call when I retired, I didn't expect one. We never exchanged a phone call in six years of playing together, he wasn't that sort of person.

Let's hope it goes better for Andy tonight than it did recently in Madrid when he was mistaken for the referee by Madrid fans.
