Who would have thought that Montrose vs the GAA would be the biggest story of the gaelic football season? #disillusionedgate and #carthygate broke right on top of each other, and even if MJ Tierney temporarily put the Twitter issue to bed by appearing with Marty Morrissey last night, the brouhaha over Brian Carthy's status isn't going anywhere. While the RTE Sport department has stayed pretty mum on the Carthy issue, smug RTE business hack John Murray sent out an unlikely salvo out at the GAA managers on his intolerable show this morning. While introducing Damian Lawlor of the Sunday Independent for some sports chat, Murray asked the following:

"Did you get onto Kieren McGeeney to see if it was ok to come on?"

Lawlor wisely dodged the question. Immediately before that mention, Murray mentioned some odd sort of fantasy of minding Carla Bruni were Sarkozy to visit Ireland, pending the permission of GAA managers. Mild, unfunny slagging maybe, but it is a sign that the issue is ruffling feathers at RTE.
