M-1 Global, Russia's leading MMA organisation, turned a few heads back in August 2014 when they hosted the country's first professional armoured knight fight in the middle of a mixed martial arts card, but now the company has revealed that it plans to launch it's own project with the focus solely on this medieval style combat.
Immediately we were reminded of this:
Officials representing M-1 have explained how the positive crowd reaction to the original armoured knight fighting is what spurred them on to make the 'M-1 Medieval' project a reality, and they then told the world what we can expect to see:
The sport will entail two fighters who wear armour of medieval warriors and use replicas of ancient swords with blunt razor to fight each other.
Fairly straight forward then.
The original flight back in August flew under our radar, but we have just seen this gif of the action, and it looks just about as ridiculous as we expected:
