We weren't totally surprised to hear Rory McIlroy empathising with LeBron James's choke job in the NBA Finals over at the Congressional this week. Rory knows what it's like to fuck up on the biggest stage imaginable. It was strange to learn that McIlroy considers LeBron to be one of his bro's. The two have a watch sponsor in common and apparently exchange text messages now and again (presumably they don't talk football - McIlroy's unabashed Man United love would rub Liverpool co-owner Bron Bron up the wrong way).
Here's Rory's thoughts on LeBron's meltdown:
"I think he's been unfairly scrutinized," McIlroy said. "Everyone is going to have bad days, if it’s on a golf course or on a basketball court. And with sports these days everything is over-analyzed, stats here, stats there, how has your team combined points in the last quarter of the Finals or whatever. It’s just one of those things.”
