Sorm Dennis has thrown the Irish sporting weekend into disarray.

RTÉ have been forced to cancel live television coverage of the SSE Airtricity League's standout opening weekend fixture between Bohemians and Shamrock Rovers, while tonight's Allianz League match between Limerick and Waterford has been rearranged for Sunday.

Despite the inclement weather, Bohs v Rovers was given the go-ahead but RTÉ pulled the plug on their television coverage due to fears of the safety of the camera gantry and presentation area.

Meanwhile, the Division One hurling match between Limerick and Waterford had been due to be broadcast live on Eir Sport at 7pm but will now instead be played at 2pm on Sunday.

However tomorrow's Division 2A match between Offaly and Antrim, the Division 2B match between Kildare and Derry, and the Fermanagh v Sligo Division 3B match have been postponed until a later date.

All four quarter-finals in the EirGrid Ulster U20 Football Championship and the Leinster quarter-final between Loais and Westmeath and the Leitrim v Galway Connacht semi-final have been postponed.

Leinster's Guiness Pro14 match against the Cheetahs will go ahead in the RDS at 2.30pm but two of the stands will be closed.
