Instead, things are going in the opposite direction - and automatic promotion from League 1 no longer seems inevitable. Leeds travel to league leaders Norwich tomorrow knowing that defeat will almost certainly mean being on level points with chasers Millwall.

Despite or because of their recent catastrophes, Leeds maintain a surprisingly strong following among Ireland’s media elite: Tom Humphries, David McWilliams and the ginger Billo Matt Cooper all claim allegiance to the Elland Road club. But will any of them trudge out to Fairview on April 7 to get intimate with The Bates’s and Stix, the Player Liasion Officer? I doubt it.

Here’s what they’ll be missing-

The Leeds United Chairman, Mr Ken Bates and his wife Suzannah are in Dublin this Easter and will be joined by Peter Lorimer for a night of Q & A.

The night is an opportunity not just for you to meet the Chairman and Peter but to also ask any questions relating to the Club - There will also be an opportunity for photographs and autographs, a raffle and a small auction.

Stix the Player Liasion Officer will MC proceedings on Wednesday 7th April 2010 @ 7.30pm in the Players Lounge, 47 Fairview Strand Dublin

Take note: any questions about the identities of the owners of Leeds will be met with scornful laughter from Stix and kick in the balls from Mr Bates.

Ah, the glory days
