As the BBC celebrates its 100th anniversary today, here's a look back at possibly its greatest Irish sports moment. Written in 2016 by Conor Neville

The O'Donovan's are now becoming so 'gas' that the entire population of Rio is in danger of passing out. Not long out of the water and barely having had time to retch, they were obliged to speak to RTE and the BBC. After stepping away from Joe Stack, they strode towards the microphones of the British Broadcasting Corporation.

While walking in the direction of England's biggest rugby-Gaelic football fan, Mr. John Inverdale, Gary could be heard muttering some words of caution to his brother.

"We'll have to be careful with what we say to these lads"

This incident reminds us of that old Mastermind joke where an Irishman appeared answering questions on his specialist subject, 'the Easter Rising, 1916'.

After answering 'PASS' to the most basic of questions including 'Who read the proclamation from the steps of the GPO?' and 'Which signatory was executed while strapped to a chair?', a voice rose from crowd exclaiming 'That's it Paddy! Tell them nothin'!!'
