If you're not great at something then it's probably not a good idea to draw attention to yourself. Like say, if you're not a great driver. What you should not do in this situation is buy a bright green Ferrari and enter yourself in a televised endurance race at Monza.
Wealthy Russian Vadim Kogay is not a believer in this philosophy though. He entered a Blancpain Endurance Series race in his Ferrari 458 GT3 with disastrous/amusing consequences.
